Peer Mentors
We are the four Peer Mentors from Year 5 who work with a buddy from Year 3 or 4 for one half term. We usually have children who struggle with friendships, quiet in class, maybe they might have things going on at home and/or school that is affecting them or worrying them. They come with us for some time out of class every Wednesday afternoon for 45 minutes.
With our buddy we do a variety of things such as crafting, playing out, play games, make cards on special occasions i.e. Easter, Valentines etc, chatting with one another and making sure we're all feeling ok.
It gives us all an opportunity to meet and make new friends around school who we wouldn't normally speak to and be more confident.
Time out from their own classroom with other children in the school is proving to be really settling and helping the children, Wednesday can't come round quick enough for them being with their buddies.
